2. The next day after I returned from Moscow, I left for the English camp by the Black Sea, organized by our team together with our American friends and young people from our church and 2 other churches of Krasnodar. There were about 60 people in our camp, 25 of which were non-believers. The camp lasted for 5 days. It took place at our church’s recreation center, which allowed us not to worry about cooking food, and also provided us with lots of fun activities, such as mini golf, climbing wall, pool and so on, not to mention lots of sports and the sea!
We prepared a program for the camp that was aimed at helping people to get to know each other better and build relationships. The main theme of the camp was “Is there life after university?” So we wanted to help students analyze their lives and think about their future. Every morning there were small groups, where we could open up and share our stories, talk about our life values, and tell each other about our dreams and hopes. It was a good opportunity to get to know people better, and believers could share their experience of walking with the Lord and trusting Him with their future. All the conversations were in English, so those who came to the camp just to improve their language skills were satisfied too:) Every evening we had an entertaining event, where (besides all the fun things) we would have a guest speaker who shared his or her story about their lives, dreams, about how God is leading them and helping them to make right choices and find the job they enjoy. It was useful and encouraging for the students, and also a great way for our speakers to share their faith with the audience. Two of the guest speakers – Elena and Anton – had become believers through our movement. We were especially happy to see how much they have grown and how the Lord is glorified in their lives!
All the students enjoyed the camp a lot! There were some organizational problems and mistakes though – which was a good reason to talk with our team after the camp and to analyze everything to learn from our mistakes. We believe God worked in our hearts through it all, as we all still have a lot to learn. Another sad thing was that one of the girls broke her leg during one of the sports events at the camp. We took her to the hospital where she had 2 surgeries, and visited her afterwards. This girl is not a believer, and we hope and pray that God would work in her heart through this situation. Hopefully we can show her God’s love and care as we keep in touch with her and support her as she is recovering…
The English camp was the closing event of the school year! So right now we are all on vacation:) Our American friends left the next week after the camp. Sveta keeps spending time with students who haven’t left the city for the holidays yet, traveling with them and getting them together. She is amazing! Praise God for her energy and her love for the students!
As for us, Nika and I went to my hometown to spend a week with my mother whom we couldn’t visit as often as we’d like for the past few months. It was an amazing time of rest! We got to take my mom to Safari-park by the Black Sea – the biggest and the best zoo in Russia, which she enjoyed immensely:)
We thank God for all the blessings, for the opportunity to serve Him and for our family in Christ! Thank you so much for praying for us and for helping all these awesome things happen! God be with you!
